Terms
Terms of service
Plain English, because terms nobody can read are terms nobody agreed to. This is a short document on purpose.
What KoalaQueue is
A place where an artist pays for a curator to listen to a track and write what they think of it. You are buying a listen and an opinion. You are not buying a placement, and nothing here is a promise that your track will be added to anything.
Credits
A credit buys one pitch to one curator. Credits have no cash value and are not refundable for money, with one exception: if nobody reviews your pitch within 72 hours, the credit returns to your account automatically. On a subscription, a quarter of unused credits roll over at renewal and the rest lapse; this is shown in your ledger.
Reviews
A curator is paid a flat fee for a completed review, identical whether they add the track or pass on it. A review must follow at least 60 seconds of listening and be at least 20 words. Reviews are the curator's own opinion and we do not edit them. We may remove a review that is abusive or plainly not about the track, and we may remove a curator who writes them.
Playlists
Curators own their playlists and decide what goes on them. KoalaQueue has no ability to add or remove anything from a curator's playlist and will not acquire one. Playlists operated by us appear alongside everybody else's, labelled as ours, paid the same and ranked no higher.
What is not allowed
- Buying, selling or arranging placements, streams, followers or saves.
- Paying a curator outside the platform to influence a decision.
- Submitting a track you do not have the right to distribute.
- Operating a playlist you do not own, or misrepresenting its audience.
- Automating reviews, or writing them without listening.
Any of these ends the account, and unspent credits are forfeit.
Payouts
Curator earnings are paid on request above $20.00. You are responsible for any tax on what you earn. We may withhold a payout while we look into a pattern of reviews that appear not to be real listens.
Spotify
KoalaQueue is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Spotify. We use Spotify's public interfaces to verify playlist ownership and read follower counts. Nothing here is permitted to breach Spotify's own terms, and a service that sells streams or placements is breaching them.
Ending it
You can close your account at any time. We can close one that breaks these terms. A subscription is cancelled from Stripe's billing page, linked from your dashboard, and takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for.
Liability
KoalaQueue is provided as it is. We are not liable for what a curator thinks of your track, for a placement that does not happen, or for one that is later removed. Our total liability is limited to what you have paid us in the previous twelve months.
Changes
If these terms change materially we will say so on this page and by email before the change applies.
